IAQ Quality Sustainability Award

Kazuyuki SUZUKI

Kazuyuki SUZUKI is an academician member of International Academy for Quality (IAQ) since 2014. He is also Professor Emeritus and Project Professor, University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo since 2016, where he focuses on research in reliability engineering and quality assurance, and especially for prevention of fatal accidents. Besides, he has been an Audit & Supervisory Board Member, Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. since 2015. Recently, he joins Board Member of JUSE.

He has been a member of the Deming Prize Examination Committee since 1990. He was formerly President of Japanese Society for Quality Control, President of Reliability Engineering Association of Japan, and committee members related to government reliability and safety issues. Through these activities, he is striving to expand TQM and reliability engineering, as well as develop human resources that are responsible for establishment, research/education, and dissemination/ enlightenment of a safe and secure society. In 2014, he was awarded the Deming Prize Individual in recognition of the above achievements.

He has both a Master and a Doctor of Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology and earned his Doctorate in Reliability Engineering in 1979. He became a lecturer at Tokai University in 1979, an associate professor at University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo since 1990, and a professor since 2000. He has been doing education and research in reliability and quality management and 81 academic journal papers which include JASA and Technometrics beside 30 Key Note Speeches and Plenary Invited Talks.

As an advisor and educator, he has conducted training and seminars at JUSE, JSA, and in India. As an author, he has been written more than 36 books in reliability and quality assurance. Some of the best-selling books in Japanese is “Proactive Prevention Principles and System”(2004, JUSE Press) and “Reliability Seven Tools” (2008, JUSE Press).
